Gina laughs at the small human girl in front of her, the sound so different above water. The small stranger perplexes her slightly, her reaction to seeing Gina differing from the ones she’s received in the past.

“I’m more of a fish than you,” she teases.

She dives back into the water and makes a great show of splashing her iridescent fin, catching just enough water to for it to lightly splash the child but no enough to soak the material that humans seem so keen on wearing over their skin. Rising back up to continue her interaction with the little girl, a sage eyebrow raises in question. “You do know those are legs, don’t you?”

“they’re N E W !” ponyo insists, wiggling her especially dexterous toes for emphasis.  she is offended by the assumption that she is not as much of a fish as the mermaid.  she does not look like a fish NOW, but when she does, she is as much a fish as anyone !

offended or not, the redhead giggles as the water hits her.  despite being sprinkled, she remains entirely dry – because she is a fish.  she leans forward, grasping the hem of her skirt as her wide eyes peek down at the woman in the water.  her frustration, it seems, it forgotten already.  she is far too CURIOUS to stay mad.  she has never seen a fish quite like this, after all.

“do you know my mom?”  she learned the word M O M from sosuke.  she likes it; something about it feels so much friendlier than mother.
